Text Box: Partnering with CSB is in Africa
Brigade in BC has been asked to be an active part in helping establish CSB in Zambia. It’s more than just “send money”. We’ve been asked to pray for a certain pastor and the men of his church as they explore opportunities to establish their own CSB . This pastor is:
Rev. Emmanuel Chulu
of the Chainda Revival Centre near Lusaka
What happens next will be determined very soon, but the need for men to get involved in the lives of their boys is critical. As the Zambians left their tribal villages for the cities, they lost the mentoring of their boys, When they first heard of CSB’s ministry, they immediately described it as “insaka”—that missing part of man to boy discipling.
This is an exciting opportunity for all of us to establish a local Zambian ministry directed and supported by the Zambian Church and its men… with a little help from us to start it up. Praise the Lord.
This project also builds our own CSB Units as they participate in an effort that is well outside of their normal world. Boys will see that God is concerned about boys everywhere. They’ll see that CSB is valued by God for boys everywhere. They will see that they each can have an impact in the life of another boy through their small efforts and contributions.

Text Box: CSB-Sponsored Anchor Points Seminar - November 20, 2010
CSB is all about growing boys into MEN OF GOD; followers of Christ who will serve Him wherever His Calling should lead. We teach them to be Christ’s disciples and point them to God as their source of inspiration. We connect Christians across the generations. We build relationships, starting with the Lord Jesus. That’s what we do, but many churches are seeing their young men and women, and many of their seniors, walking away from the Church, the Body of Christ. That trend has to be broken, so CSB is sponsoring an Anchor Points Seminar with Dr Chuck Stecker.
Chuck clearly explains why we are losing our teens and young adults, and he shares why we are losing our older church members, as well. He then describes how we can empower our people—young and old—to be vital members of God’s Kingdom through the local congregation. He does this through “Anchor Points”—places where we tie each person of each generation to the community of Jesus Christ.
This is a one day seminar that needs at least five church to participate, as well as up to five members from each of those churches. The cost is around US$225 per church (based of early registration; regular price is US$265).
CSB and CSB BC want to build churches intergenerationally, so we’re bringing Dr Stecker to the Lower Mainland on November 20, 2010. This is a BC project that has implications for all of Canada.

For more details on Anchor Points, check out their website:

The BC Regional Director will be contacting each CSB church and several others over the next few months. This is an important effort. Please help.

ZambiaCSB-ZambiaText Box: Stockade and Battalion Revision
John Launstein, the President of CSB Canada, writes:
“Easily one of the initiatives we are most excited about is a significant revision project of our Stockade and Battalion material. God has brought together an incredible team of men from both sides of the border to lead us forward on this crucial venture, led by our own Steve Grove. Steve is a pastor who also serves as our Regional Director for Northern Saskatchewan and is a Herald of Christ with life-long Brigade involvement. He brings a unique blend of strengths to this pivotal role, but we welcome your prayers for God’s wisdom and leading to be evident as we move forward. We also welcome your input in this revision and will be announcing several ways you can communicate with us in the near future.”
The BC Regional Director is part of this team, so be assured that BC’s CSB members will be part of the revision process. These efforts are all about the men of the local church being more effective in their discipling of the boys and young men for Jesus Christ. The leaders of Brigade are the “experts”, so we need your/their full involvement.
Text Box: Leadership Training Course Revision
John Launstein also writes in the June newsletter:
“Another key area we’re working on is a complete revision of our Leadership Training course. Again, God has brought a team together of capable men from both Canada and the US to help us create a dynamic training program for new leaders entering the ministry in churches across North America.”
The BC Regional Director is part of this team, as well. Again, CSB leaders in BC churches will be part of the process. Thank you for your participation.
Text Box: 75th Anniversary Events for 2012
John Launstein goes on to share:
“We’re also getting pretty excited about our upcoming 75th Anniversary! You’ll be hearing much more from us in the coming months, including details of a North America-wide gathering of men and boys in the summer of 2012 and numerous other events and initiatives tied to this year of celebration.”
While BC isn’t directly part of the planning process, our participation is regarded as very important. Right now, the Camporee idea is to meet in Minnesota or Colorado in mid August of 2012. There’s talk of a CSB “Battle of the Bands”. What do we want to see happening there? What will entice us to go?
